All data is encrypted when traveling between your device and our servers (TLS 1.2+), and encrypted again when stored in our databases. Your information is never exposed in plain text.
๐ Sensitive Data Masking
Phone numbers, email addresses, and emergency contacts are automatically masked in the app. Only you can see your own full details โ other members see protected versions.
๐ Privacy-First Analytics
We use privacy-focused analytics (PostHog) that load only after you consent, strip personal identifiers before anything is sent, and can be switched off at any time from your privacy settings.

On mobile, Face ID or your fingerprint unlocks your session, account by account: biometrics are tied to each email address registered on the device. The first sign-in is always by code.
โ Passwordless sign-in
Every account signs in with a one-time code sent by email (or by SMS with your phone). On the web dashboard, add a passkey and skip the code. There are no passwords anywhere in Babel: nothing to remember, nothing to leak.

Board members, managers, and residents each have appropriate access levels. Financial tools and admin settings are restricted to authorized roles only.
Payment Security
All payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment provider โ the highest level of security certification in the payments industry. Babel never stores your credit card numbers, bank account details, or other payment credentials on our servers.

Continuous Security Monitoring
Our codebase is automatically scanned for vulnerabilities with every update. We use Aikido Security to continuously monitor our application for known threats, and no code reaches production without passing security checks.

Compliance & Privacy Rights
Babel is designed to comply with Canadian and international privacy regulations, including PIPEDA (federal) and Quebec's Loi 25.

- Delete your data โ Request account deletion from the app or the web dashboard; a 30-day hold applies before erasure, and community records and financial records are kept or anonymized as the law requires (seven years for financial records)
- Export your data โ Download your own data in a portable, machine-readable format from the app (Settings โบ Privacy & data)
- Withdraw consent โ Switch off analytics and marketing, or restrict the processing of your data, from the app at any time
